A. Search Scope
The process of requesting resources from ILCSO member libraries through Illinet Online is not much more involved than completing a regular search
in Wheaton’s library catalog. The main differences are that you need
to select “All ILCSO Libraries” or a particular library. The
Request feature of Illinet Online should not be used to request items from
Wheaton’s own library.
B. Conduct Search
Once a library choice has been made, conduct your search. You
will be taken to the Quick Search screen by default, but you may
also use the Guided Keyword Search as well.
C. Request an item
Once you have located a title that interests you and you’re viewing a
single record in Brief or Full mode, select Request
from the banner at the top of the page.
D. Login to identify yourself
At this point you will be asked to login, selecting Wheaton College
from the list of home libraries. Afterwards you must type in your
full college ID number (14 digits) and your last name.
E. Delivery information
After you’ve logged in you are asked to verify that you want the first
available copy. Once this is completed you are taken to a more extensive
form that lists the library supplying the desired item, which is chosen using
a predetermined algorithm for speediest delivery. You are required to retype your ID number
along with where you’d like to pick up the item. This last feature can
be useful if you will be traveling near the library that owns what you are
looking for.
F. Request Status
After your request has been submitted, generally, you can expect delivery
within a few days, this is much quicker than using Interlibrary Loan. The item will be delivered to the location that
you requested. If you want to monitor the status of your requests you
can login to MyAccount to review pending requests.
